Picnic Day 2006 - Davis, CA

pd 01   April 22, 2006

We walked from home to campus with Blake in the stroller. I was hoping to mazimixe the amount of time we'd be able to spend out and about, and usually with big crowds, the stroller will give us some extra time. After wandering around for a while, and getting some snacks for me and for Blake, we met up with Ed and Darrin near where a friend of theirs was about to perform on stage.

Here is Blake fiddling with his shirt, rather unsure of what to make of being let out of the stroller.

Blake looking less sure about this whole being in public thing.

Ed has the coolest sneakers ever, which he is kindly showing us.

pd 03   Blake is beginning to show off for the camera a little, but is blocking Robert from view.

Blake really begins to ham it up here. He decided to make some cute faces for the camera, and this impromptu peek-a-boo ranks right up there in saccharine moments of all time.

We finally get to see the adorable and fabulous Robert in profile.

This has to be the most excellent snapshot of Blake's excitement ever. It really captures his essence as the live music begins.

Note the lovely chocolate smear from the choc chip cookies he got from some sorority sisters at their fundraising table.

Also the fashion choice of having both buttons on his shirt done was Blake's, btw.

Much jumping up and down, dancing and hand-flapping was done as the music began playing. Soon after this, some folks came and tried to share the bench with Blake. He then needed to leave. I tried to take him to the children's area, but it wasn't very attractive to him. He then made it exceptionally clear he needed to go home, so we did. He'd managed more than 2 hours of high-noise crowds by that point, so I thought it was best to head home before things became too uncomfortable for him.

All-out thermonuclear meltdown avoide. We walked home and, stopped at the co-op for a treat on the way.

What a great day!
